HCC ANNOUNCES REGISTRATION FOR THE EXTENDED DAY KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM (EDKP)
Enrollment for EDKP is on a first-come, first-served basis, and is already extremely limited. Registration for EDKP is separate and distinct from kindergarten registration. In order to register for the EDKP, parents must provide the following:
- a signed copy of the 2010-11 HCC Enrollment Agreement
- a completed 2010-11 HCC Registration Form
- a check for the $50 registration fee, made payable to "HCC."
The Extended Day Kindergarten Program, which provides wraparound child care for the half day kindergarten sessions, is open to all children enrolled in the Haddonfield Public School kindergartens. HCC is a private, non-profit organization, which works cooperatively with the public schools to provide care for working families. The program is tuition based, with a yearly fee divided into ten equal monthly installments. Tuition is billed in advance, and based on the registered schedule of attendance.
Care is available as early as 7:30 a.m., and as late as 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, on days when school is in session. The EDKP is housed at Central School, with transportation provided to or from J. F. Tatem and Elizabeth Haddon kindergartens.
The EDKP is licensed by the State of NJ, and meets or exceeds all programmatic, staffing, and safety standards set by the licensing agency. The program, which has been in operation since 1986, is designed to complement the kindergarten curriculum with developmentally appropriate activities including arts, literature, and physical activity.
After January 28, registration for EDKP must be done in person at the HCC Office, located in Room B105 at Haddonfield High School. Please note that mail or internet registration will not be accepted for EDKP.
Further information about EDKP may also be obtained by calling the HCC Office at 429-1603.

HCC ALUMNI NEWS
We're Proud of Our HCC "STARS!"
Congratulations to HCC alumni Chris Lind and Emily Vick, who recently displayed their performance talents in the area! Chris and Emily were among the first group of children who attended HCC back in the late '80s, and their mothers were part of the group of parents who founded Haddonfield Child Care.
Chris, who has worked at Carnegie Hall as well as teaching in afterschool programs (including HCC!) to support his career, recently sang at the World Cafe in Philadelphia, and will enjoy a return engagement at that venue on Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend. Emily, who is a working actress, has toured nationally in stage shows. She performed recently at Haddonfield Plays and Players, to benefit the HMHS "Lights, Camera, Action!" project for renovation of the high school auditorium.
Both Chris and Emily are living in New York City as they pursue their careers in the performing arts.
If you would like to donate to the "Lights, Camera, Action!" project in honor of these HCC/HMHS "stars", click on the link: www.hmhslightscameraaction.com/Donate.htm
Congratulations also to HCC alum (and former Olympian) Erin Donahue, who recently competed in the Emerald Nuts Midnight Run through Central Park on New Year's Eve. Erin added this race to her impressive list of wins, finishing ahead of all other female runners in 21 minutes, 22 seconds. Erin was known for running ahead of all of the other children on the high school track when she attended EDKP at HMHS as a five year old!
And last, but certainly not least, congratulations to Sloan Fisk, who was recently awarded his SECOND Bronze Star for meritorious service in the US Armed Forces overseas. Sloan and his sister Amanda both attended HCC at Tatem School.
Haddonfield Child Care is a private, not-for-profit organization founded to provide care for kindergarten through eighth grade children before and after their regular school hours. Enrollment is on a first-come, first served basis. This care is provided on site at each of the Haddonfield schools currently being served by Haddonfield Child Care:
- J.F. Tatem School
- Elizabeth Haddon School
- Central School
- Haddonfield Middle School
Haddonfield Child Care is a private, non-profit organization, and our by-laws require that we have at least one parent representative from each participating school on our Board of Trustees. This tradition of a primarily parent-run Board is what makes HCC unique among local after school programs.
Wanted: A Few Good Board Members
If you are interested in representing your child's school on our Board, please call Executive Director Denise Sellers at the HCC Office,429-1603, for more details.
